CLIENT: FIRE KILLS
PRODUCTION COMPANY: GREAT GUNS
POST PRODUCTION: MAINFRAME
The Fire Kills spot was born in a very unusual way…Paul Shearer and Mainframe MD Adam Jenns were judging D&AD and Paul decided that he wanted to work with Mainframe on the new campaign for his clients, Fire Kills. About two hours later the two of them had come up with the premise of living, sinister CGI smoke being breathed in and out for the spot and later that week it was confirmed the client loved the idea. It ended up being a great collaborative process between Enter, Great Guns and Mainframe and the general sentiment is if we can go a little way to protecting some lives, all of the work will have been well worth it.
The realistic smoke simulations were created in 3d with FumeFX / Maya and all shots were tracked using synthEyes and Nuke. The simulations were designed noting the actual behaviour of smoke in a real world situation for the maximum realism and effect. The smoke simulations and original plates were composited together in Nuke. Time remapping to match the audio FX was achieved in After Effects and the final colour grade was carried out in Davinci Resolve.
